Forta make-up artistilor din Romania. Am putea fi. Dar nu suntem.

Iubiti-va mult,

Cu drag,

Andra

About the hatred among make-up artists

In the last 10 years I’ve worked with many people, from various areas of interest and fields. And in the last 3 years I’ve focused 90% of my time on make-up artists. I could almost write a book about them and the behavior of some of the specialists. I don’t want this article to be considered general, it is clear that what I’m about to discuss refers only to a certain part of the MUA field, and not all have to feel they are the main topic of this discussion, is this clear? The idea is that I’ve noticed a lot of hatred among make-up artists and it saddens me. How about you?

If you think in depth at the name assigned to the caravan in which I’m about to depart with #SinzianaIaru, #TogetherForBeauty, we could grasp the precise essence of this idea. My desire and Sinziana’s is to unite this world of make-up artists in a single community, which would have as purpose women’s beauty. This is all. We hope that after 10 days of seminaries, meeting and discussions we would be able to reach the conclusion that this is possible, and that we can talk about a small community, ready to develop.

We are present now in small gatherings, the country is divided depending on great make-up schools, some are the students of X, others the students of Y, and so on. No one is just for #beauty. All these, when the market is huge, and there is place for everybody and the styles are so different that every make-up artist in this country can find his/her own client with no troubles.

There are few of those who, having the same profession, share tips, secrets, ideas. We are all looking in our neighbor’s yard, checking how many make-ups/students he/she had, we calculate the profit, without deducting the costs, we swear, criticize, gossip. We tear dedicated groups apart, fight like hell and always end up choosing the “block” option. We forget about the shared love and passion, we forget that, although we like the MUFE foundation, we also adore the Inglot eyeliner, use Anastasia lipstick and Paris Berlin highlighter. We forget we adore KIM brushes from Numeric Proof, and that we love just as well the Atelier Paris pallets. We forget that in our generation there are tens of competing products, but, in the end, they all make a piece of art on our clients’ faces.

If we wouldn’t forget these things, we would realize that we are stronger together, that we complete each other, that a MUA can make perfect lips, and another can be recognized for the WOW chicks, and that if we would respect and help each other, and create a community, the final client would benefit.

But we choose to be on our own, separated, alone, haters, instead of being a force. The force of make-up artists in Romania. We could have it. But we don’t.

Take care of each other,

Love,

Andra
